9/16 x 5/16 inch oval satin and antiqued finish sterling silver miraculous medal on a 16 inch stainless steel rhodium plated chain. The pendant features decorative antiqued detailing on the border and in the center the figure of Mary is depicted surrounded by the words, "O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee." On the back of the medal in a brushed finish is the letter M, representing Mary, surmounted by a cross representing the sacrifice of Jesus, and surrounded by twelve stars that represent the twelve apostles. The origin of the miraculous medal comes from the visions Saint Catherine Laboure experienced in the year 1830 of Mary Immaculate.
